Wake Forest’s Lauren Walsh posted the low round of the day as she moved to within two shots of the lead ahead of the final round of the Nexus Collegiate.

Walsh was the woman in form at Albany Golf Club after a five-under 67 lifted her into second place on two-under-par.

The senior trails Latanna Stone but has helped Wake Forest open up a commanding fourteen-shot lead at the top of the team leaderboard on a collective score of level-par.

After an opening 75 the Castlewarden native got things moving in the right direction quickly with a brace of birdies on the 2nd and 3rd before a dropped shot on 8 saw her turn in 35.

It was the back nine where the two-time Curtis Cup star really lit things up. Birdies at 11 and 13 were followed by an eagle on the par-5 15th as she came home in 32.

Auburn’s Anna Foster is also in contention heading into the final 18 at one-under.

Foster recovered from an opening double bogey to post a one-under 71.

The Elm Park golfer carded birdies on the second, third and sixth before a bogey on the par-5 9th saw her turn in level.

After her second bogey on a par-5 this time the 11th, Foster finished strongly with two birdies in her last four holes to climb into a share of 3rd place with Wake Forest star Rachel Kuehn.

LSU’s Áine Donegan lies in a share of 11th place after a one-over 73 left her on four-over-par.

Arizona State’s Beth Coulter is in 25th on eight-over.
