Matthew McClean’s tied 16th finish was the best the Irish could muster as a waterlogged Leopard Creek meant the African Amateur Strokeplay Championship was abandoned after 36-holes.
The Malone man finished on two-over par for the tournament and 10 shots back of home winner, Aldrich Potgeiter.
Naas star Robert Brazill completed 36-holes in three-over par with Carton House’s Marc Boucher, Royal Dublin’s Richard Knightly and Castle’s Robert Moran all at plus-five.
Royal Dublin’s Hugh Foley (+7), Galgorm Castle’s Josh Hill (+8) and Forest Little’s Jack McDonnell (+11) completed the Irish scoring in an event blighted by unruly weather.
