Buckley wins in Sydney while Walker and Hill enjoy run in Argentina

Irish amateur golf success spanned across the globe this weekend as Paul Buckley won the City of Sydney Amateur Championship while Simon Walker and Joshua Hill enjoyed strong performances in South America at the Argentine Stroke Play Championship. 

The Kanturk native shot a round of 67 to win by three shots from Chun-Ta Wu. 

In the Argentine Stroke Play, Maynooth University’s Walker came home in style with a final round of four-under-par to share 11th place. 

Two birdies and an eagle on 17 saw the Roscommon native complete a back nine of 32 for a 68 and a level-par total for the four rounds in Buenos Aires. 

Meanwhile Mullingar Scratch Cup winner Hill closed with a final round of 74 for a two-over total as he shared 14th place. 

The Galgorm Castle golfer did post two birdies in his last three holes to finish on a high. 

This was the second of back-to-back events in Argentina after the pair teamed up in the Copa Juan Carlos Tailhade en route to finishing 24th and 25th respectively as the team competition was won by Spain.
