Paul Conroy is in the hunt for back-to-back collegiate titles after he moved into contention at the Furman Intercollegiate.

Conroy has shot successive rounds of 69 to lie on four-under and just four shots off the pace in a share of 6th place.

The Enniscorthy man is fresh off a victory which included a hole in one in his final round.

Conroy might live to rue a double-bogey on the par-3 16th which cut short a flawless round of four birdies.

Three birdies in four holes on the 5th 7th and 8th were followed by a birdie on 14.

It was a similar story in round one with a double-bogey on 17 ruining what had looked like a terrific opening effort. After beginning with a dropped shot he responded with birdies on the 2nd 7th 11th, 12th and 16th before letting two go late on.

The individual lead is held by Daniel Cheng of James Madison.

Conroy’s college Chattanooga are sitting pretty at the top of the team leaderboard.

Meanwhile in the Stockton Invitational Joshua McCabe and Sam Murphy tasted victory with Grand Canyon University.

The GCU took a four-shot lead into the final round and they cruised to victory on twenty-two-under with McCabe and Murphy playing their part with rounds of 71 and 72 respectively.

McCabe finished in a share of 30th place on level-par while Murphy was three shots further back in 49th.
