Carton House Golf Club secured a fifth place finish at the European Men’s Club Trophy after they finished a combined total of eighteen-over-par.

The three-man team of Marc Boucher, Keith Egan and Darragh Flynn were a combined six-over for the third round and they were sixteen shots behind eventual winners Golf De Cannes Mougins of France in Troia Golf Club, Portugal.

Boucher himself also claimed a spot in the top-10 with a share of sixth place on five-over-par.

The Irish international was seven shots behind Alps Tour amateur and now Challenge Tour card holder Tom Vaillant of Golf De Cannes Mougins.

A closing double in round two left Boucher with a mountain to climb if he was to win and three bogeys in a row from the fourth to the sixth today put paid to his chances.

Boucher did respond well with birdies on the eighth and twelfth holes and a bogey on seventeen saw him sign for a two-over 74.

Teammate Egan’s final round of 76 was the second best of the three cards so he joined Boucher in the counting for round three.

Egan carded five bogeys in seventeen holes but finished with a birdie on 18.

It was Flynn however who was the next best of the Irish, finishing in 25th place on sixteen-over-par after a final round of 77.

Egan was three shots further back on nineteen-over.
