Lauren Walsh secured a share of eighth place at the Jackson T Stephens Cup in Seminole Golf Club as Wake Forest cruised into the semi-finals of the matchplay stages.

Walsh carded a 54-hole total of three-under-par after a final round of level-par 72 as fellow Deac Rachel Kuehn edged to a two-shot win on ten-under-par.

The Castlewarden native carded six straight pars to open her final round but struggled around the turn dropping three shots in four holes to fall back to level for the week.

The Curtis Cup star rallied coming home with four birdies in five holes and just the one dropped shot on the 15th as she came home in 34 to climb back inside the top-10.

Aine Donegan of LSU was T-36th on sixteen-over after a final round 82.

Wake Forest will face Stanford University in what is sure to be a cracking tie with Stanford boasting some star quality such as Rose Zhang, Megha Ganne and Rachel Heck.

Walsh will pit her wits against Brooke Seay in the anchor match.

Meanwhile in the Ivy League Intercollegiate Matchplay, Sara Byrne of Miami secured a resounding 3&2 win in her match to help as the Canes secured a fifth place finish in the team leaderboard while Byrne placed 13th in the individual standings on six-over.

The matchplay stages pitted the ACC against the Ivy League with Byrne’s ACC team running out comprehensive 20.5-9.5 winners.
