AIG Minor Cup final four confirmed at PGA National Slieve Russell

The AIG Cups and Shields series began at PGA National Slieve Russell on Wednesday where the weather didn’t dampen the spirits of players and their travelling supporters.

Mallow, Greenacres, Ardee, Westport, Ballyneety, Rockmount, Castle and Cill Dara were the AIG Minor Cup quarterfinalists and began the week’s proceedings this morning.

Amanda Pollock, Rosie Watters, and Vicky Kell were the point scorers for Greenacres in their defeat over Mallow while Ardee got the better of Westport with Bernie Breen, Angela Hand and Helen Reilly securing their 3 matches.


Rockmount took a commanding win over Ballyneety and will meet Cill Dara tomorrow who saw off Dublin’s Castle Golf Club in their quarter-final.

The AIG Minor Cup semi-finals will tee off tomorrow from 11.18am and Thursday will also see the beginning of the AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield matches with the quarter-finals teeing off from 08.00.

Ballyneety 1 – 4 Rockmount (Ballyneety names first): Louise Wilkinson beat Patricia McDonnell 1 hole, Majella Comerford lost to Moyra Evans 2&1, Dolores Curtin lost to Karen Gowdy 6&5, Jingkie Fogarty lost to Alwyn Higham 2&1, Fiona Hennessy lost to Sue McDonagh 3&2
