Co Clare native Aideen Walsh has accepted an invitation to compete at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Dromoland Castle from September 22-25.
The Irish international amateur is no stranger to competing alongside the stars of women’s golf having twice played her way into the ISPS Handa World Invitational courtesy of her Ulster Stroke Play victories in 2021 and 2022.
We are pleased to share the news that @GolfDromoland has extended an invite to the incredibly talented Aideen Walsh to play in the #WIO2022 on her home course. 😊 Best of luck Aideen. We can’t wait to see you tee up on the 22nd! pic.twitter.com/S0HjL2IxMu

Now Walsh, who enjoyed more success last week as part of the winning Lahinch side at the AIG Women’s Senior Cup, is relishing the prospect of teeing up in the same field as the likes of home hero, Leona Maguire.
“I can’t wait, really excited now,” said Walsh.
“It’s great to see the KPMG Women’s Irish Open back after ten years and to have it out here at Dromoland is extra special so I’m looking forward to the week.”
Walsh joins a field that includes not just LPGA winner Maguire but also defending champion and former Major winner, Catriona Matthew, plus this year’s runaway Scandinavian Mixed winner, Linn Grant.
Tickets to see the stars of the LET in action at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open are on sale now at www.womensirishopen.ie. Four-day tickets are priced at €35 while single-day tickets will cost €15. Under 16s attending the event will also be admitted free of charge.
