Olivia Mehaffey roared through the field with her best round of the week at the Australian Women’s Classic as she shot a four-under 68 to finish the tournament in a share of eleventh place in Bonville.

Mehaffey put together a glittering back nine charge to finish her week on a high, posting four unanswered birdies on her way to the clubhouse.

The Tandragee native didn’t get much going on the front nine turning in level-par 35 after a bogey six on the par-5 7thand a birdie on the 9th.

A second birdie of the day on the tenth made it back-to-back gains and the 24-year-old had some momentum heading down the closing stretch.

Three birdies in five holes on 12, 14 and 16 saw her climb to the fringes of the top-10 as she carded a back nine of 33.

Mehaffey who plies her trade on both the Ladies European Tour and Stateside on the Epsom Tour settled for a share of eleventh alongside Aussie Jordan O’Brien and Welsh golfer Becky Brewerton on three-under-par.

The Down woman was seven shots adrift of wire-to-wire winner Meghan MacLaren who birdied the 18th to edge to a one-shot victory on ten-under after a final round of 69.

Sweden’s Maja Stark posted the clubhouse lead on nine-under with a 67 but England’s MacLaren came up trumps on the back nine with four birdies in an inward effort of 33 having turned one-over.
