Rory McIlroy is the latest star to take to social media to express his excitement about the new Stealth driver, the latest big stick from TaylorMade.

The unique red-faced driver was put in play by Tiger Woods at the PNC Championship in December, with the 15-time Major winner quick to praise a “truly amazing product” that has seen players experiencing gains around the world of golf.

Four-time Major winner McIlroy posted a video to Instagram as he started getting to grips with the latest TaylorMade offering.

“Saw everyone else talking about the new #StealthDriver and thought I’d give it a try. Think I’ll keep it in the bag for the season,” he wrote of the next generation of drivers from TaylorMade that boasts the birth of the CarbonWood.

World number 2 Collin Morikawa, another TaylorMade staffer who ranked a modest 112th in driving distance (295.2 yards) on the PGA Tour last season has reported significant gains since turning to the Stealth Plus.

“I’ve actual seen some increases in ball speed. This is the first time where I’ve actually seen that jump, which has been great,” Morikawa says. “Any time you can get a little more ball speed, get a little more distance, it’s going to be helpful.

“I haven’t gotten that much stronger, I haven’t gotten that much bigger — but to get that just little extra out of it, it’s going to be beneficial sometimes on certain holes.”

Morikawa was typically in the 170-172mph ball speed range with his TaylorMade SIM. He’s now up around 177 with Stealth, and unsurprisingly, he likes what he sees.

“The feel is there, which is great. The first two things that we look at is feel and sight,” Morikawa adds. “The red face took me five hits. I don’t even think about it anymore, I think it looks so clean. The carbon, it creates a feel that normally you would feel off a titanium face.”

Stealth benefits from the weight savings of the 60x Carbon Twist Face by more weight to be positioned low and deep in the head. This adds 15% more MOI when compared to Stealth Plus and is designed to provide 200-300 rpms more spin.

Stealth and Stealth HD have an RRP of €629 and will be offered in 9°, 10.5° and 12° lofts. Stealth shaft offerings include Fujikura Ventus Red 5, with numerous custom shaft options available at no additional cost. Stealth HD shaft offerings include Fujikura Air Speeder 45, with numerous custom shaft options available at no additional cost. Both models come stock with Lamkin’s Crossline Black/Red grip.
