Gavin Moynihan and Daniel Mulligan took full advantage of a pet day on the links to capture the prizes at the latest TaylorMade Winter Series outing at Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links.
A cold morning was soon replaced by sunshine and little wind with 100 players taking their chance in Dublin, grateful for such playing opportunities and course conditions given the time of year.
Portmarnock Links member Mulligan made home advantage count in the Nett competition, returning a superb 65 having only switched to the pro ranks this year.
Out in two-under par courtesy of a hat-trick of birdies from the second and a solitary bogey on 7, Mulligan raced home with four birdies in a blemish-free back nine, shooting six-under on the day – just edging out Moynihan to first Nett with a better back nine.
Former GolfSixes winner on the European Tour, Moynihan also enjoyed a brilliant day on the links, fresh off celebrating a hole-in-one at the venue last week.
Moynihan showed his class by going out in three-under par with birdies on the 4th, 5th and 9th before picking up more gains at 10, 13 and 14 in a six-birdie, no bogey 65 on Tuesday that should do his confidence the world of good.
