Shannon’s Daniel Brennan and West Cliff’s Brendan McCarroll clocked top-20 finishes as Jack Yule won The ORIDA Championship at Park Wood Golf Club by three shots after a final round four-under 68 sealed a convincing victory for the King’s Lynn golfer.

Brennan had been in electric form on Friday, firing eight birdies and one bogey to be standing on the 18th tee seven-under for the day and nine-under for the championship. However, disaster struck at his 54th hole; Brennan signing for a close ‘8’, a quadruple-bogey that resigned him to a tie for 19th at five-under after a final round three-under par 69.

McCarroll finished one shot better off than his compatriot in a tie for 15th at minus-six but would’ve also been left disappointed after closing with a three-over 75 having begun his day just four shots back of the lead. Dermot McElroy completed the Irish scoring after an even par 72 left him in a tie for 24th at four-under.

Meanwhile, Yule led from the outset this week having carded an opening round 64 to take a share of the lead into day to before asserting his dominance on day two for a two shot advantage heading into the final round in Westerham, Kent.

He started quick out the blocks going four under thru three after a birdie on 1 and 3 with an eagle on 2 eventually going out in 31 (-5). A slight wobble on the back nine though didn’t deter Yule who could’ve let the nerves get to him where at one point the lead was extended to four shots.

The closest man to Yule all week was Jamie Rutherford. The Knebworth Golf Club man tried to keep pace with Yule throughout the day but in truth the damage was already done on day two by his competitor. Rutherford went out in 32 for four under, taking the charge to Yule but couldn’t make the most of several opportunities on the back nine including on the 17th which could have pulled him closer.

Greg Dalziel and Taylor Carter have been there or thereabouts all week with both taking a share of third spot after final rounds of 71 (-1) to finish at ten under par after three rounds. It marked Carter’s best finish to date on the tour whilst Dalziel kept up with an impressive start to the season having gained his status through Monday Qualifying.

Dongwon Kim posted the round of the day signing for a blemish-free 65 (-7) with five birdies and an eagle on the card for his second top ten finish of the season. Kim shared the spoils at tied fifth with Conor White (Bridgnorth Golf Club), Curtis Knipes (Chelmsford Golf Club), Luke Joy (Remedy Oak-Yas Links Abu Dhabi), and Josh Hilleard (Golfing4Life) at nine under.

Meanwhile, Trinifold Sports’ Daniel O’Loughlin completed his first top ten finish in the professional ranks alongside Huddersfield Golf Club’s Nick Marsh at eight under.
