There may be no current date confirmed for this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open but when we get one, both Damien McGrane and Colm Moriarty can pencil it in knowing they’ve been allocated spots to compete.
Carlow Head Professional and former European Tour winner, McGrane has earned his place by virtue of winning the 2019 Irish PGA Championship while Glasson’s Moriarty claimed his spot after finishing runner-up in the 2019 PGA Play-Offs.
The qualifier for the tournament has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic and the event itself, which was due to be staged at Mount Juliet Golf Club, Co Kilkenny, in May, was postponed for the same reason.
A new date has yet to be determined but if rumours around a Ryder Cup postponement prove to be true, then a late September date looks realistic. A Ryder Cup announcement is expected next week.
