On this week’s edition of the podcast we recap the FedEx Cup finale where Rory McIlroy completed his hat-trick of PGA Tour Championship titles. The PGA Tour spokesman let his clubs do the talking at East Lake, at least prior to his winning press conference where he released both barrels on LIV Golf. With Cam Smith amongst the latest recruits to the Saudi-backed series, we also discuss the state of the golf nation, the direction the game is headed and where it leaves the DP World Tour. We also have Ryder Cup news, and more on Leona Maguire’s commitment to the KPMG Women’s Irish Open. As ever, we hope you enjoy the listen. Don’t forget to subscribe and let us know what you think.

In addition to his brilliance as a golfer, Rory McIlroy is one of, if not the, most intelligent top professional golfers on tour. His latest comments on LIV Golf are sensible and avoid the temptation to be ultra critical of those players joining the new tour. It is difficult to think of any reason other than greed for joining LIV. There maybe some excuse for some of the lesser players who joined at the beginning but the top players now joining are immensely rich and can earn massive pay checks every week if they are able enough. In addition to all this there are the moral reasons to neither support or promote the Saudi regime.
