PGA Tour

Seamus Power admits he got a bounce last week at the CJ Cup after a top-20 finish pushed him back into the all important top-100 in the FedEx Cup and he occupies the coveted 100th spot on the rankings as he looks to win back his full playing privileges on the PGA Tour for next season.

“I mean, I needed the points,” said the West Waterford man. “So it’s not bad. It’s building blocks, but still not quite where I wanted from tee to green, but a lot of good stuff around the greens.”

Power is the sole Irishman in the field this week for the Charles Schwab Challenge where he is looking to play his way into next week’s Signature Event at the Memorial. He will then head to US Open qualifying before the Canadian Open.

The two-time PGA Tour winner has rarely fared well at Colonial where he was 59th last year in his first appearance since 2019.

“I’ve never played particularly well there, but I enjoyed it there last year, so I’m hoping to kind of build off that. But it’s totally different golf, which is funny, because only 45 minutes away, but it’s all Bermuda, a completely different game altogether, so really looking forward to a different challenge, but it’s kind of fun.”

LPGA Tour

Leona Maguire, Lauren Walsh and Stephanie Meadow tee it up in the Shoprite LPGA at Seaview Hotel and Golf Club. Maguire will be looking to sharpen up before next week’s US Women’s Open at Riveira as Walsh and Meadow bid for a victory to pave their path into the next major.
