It’s the weeks where you turn top-20 finishes into top-10s that can make all the difference on the HotelPlanner Tour and if Liam Nolan clinches promotion to the DP World Tour at the end of the season he may look back on a crucial hour of play in the final round of the Danish Golf Challenge.

Standing on the 15th tee at level-par for his round after one birdie and one bogey, Nolan put on a sprint finish with three birdies in his last four holes on 15, 16 and 18 to salvage a 69 for a fifteen-under total and a share of 6th place which should give the Galway man a significant boost in the Road to Mallorca Rankings.

Nolan is currently 56th after a solid if unspectacular start to a disrupted HotelPlanner Tour campaign but he will be hoping his first top-10 of the season in Odense can provide the spark he needs heading into a busy summer stretch.

As Nolan powered to the finish, last week’s Clutch Pro Tour winner John Murphy went the opposite way with a bogey, double bogey, bogey stretch on 15, 16 and 17 to take him from the top-10 to a share of 34th alongside JR Galbraith (72) on nine-under after stumbling home to a 75.

Mark Power’s rollercoaster week where he made a whopping seventeen birdies came to an end with a closing 70 for a seven-under total and a top-50 finish as Dermot McElroy was two shots further back after a 73 and Max Kennedy was one-under after a 76.

At the top, Finland’s Tapio Pulkannen recovered from a horror triple bogey on the seventh and bogey on the 9th to eagle the 15th and birdie the 18th to force a playoff with Maxence Giboudot before he eagled the 18th in extra time to clinch the title in dramatic fashion.
