There is so much talk about slow play in all golf from the PGA to club golf with many reasons for this. As with golf clubs club players have a tendency to follow what the tour pros do. Personally. I don’t care about a 4hr round whilst a lot do and I do understand. I feel that if the tour pros could speed their rounds up the club golfer would follow suit.

There has been many suggestions about how to speed up play with everyone having both merit and issues including my pennies worth. my bug bearer is on the greens, and these are they.
    1. Caddies standing over putts, reading greens either before or after the player then having a detailed discussion about the putt.
    2. Aim Point, I understand that the system works, however it can take a long time to complete. Again if you have both player and Caddy doing it, you know where I am going with this.
    3. recently, in both in the mens and ladies game a number of players using Aim Point one 2 to 3 feet putts. This is ridiculous.

    The resolution (for me).
    1. The player is the only person to read the putt. The R&A and the USGA want to role back the ball for all (I have no issue with that), the club player has noone else to assist reading putts.
    2. Aim Point has an issue with the length of time it takes and needs a way of speeding it up. Moreover, stop using it over 3 foot putts.

I know this has problems as well and is not the be all of tackling the issue, only my view.
