Webb Simpson has split from long-time bagman Paul Tesori after a memorable dozen years working together.

Known as one of the most tight-knit partnerships on tour, the pair have chosen to part ways with 2012 US Open Champion Simpson taking to social media to break the difficult news.

“This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us but one that we have thoroughly considered after spending many hours in prayer, seeking counsel from mentors and having countless conversations together,” wrote the world number 133.

“Our time together has been truly unforgettable – Ryder Cups, Presidents Cup, a major championship, a TPC win and a career high of fourth in the OWGR.

“I could never have have done this without Paul by my side. Not only has he been my caddie and swing coach but one of my best friends in the world.”

There have been suggestions that Simpson will look to play a reduced schedule on the PGA Tour and with that in mind, he was quick to help recruit a new employer for Tesori, who will now work with reigning PGA Tour ‘Rookie of the Year’  Cameron Young.

Tesori and Simpson’s mutual split arrives after a rock-solid T7 finish last week at the Valspar, but their relationship will now continue one suspects as lifelong friends.

“Paul, Michelle, Alexis, Isaiah and their family will always be part of Team Simpson,” Simpson added. “Their family has become our family and our family has become theirs.”
