Casey looked invincible at times as he returned nine birdies and an eagle in an explosive final round of 63, a remarkable feat considering there was two blemishes on the card.
Galbraith took route 66 as he signed off with five birdies and an eagle to finish alongside Casey at 13-under-par. The pair finished just two shots behind England’s Billy Spooner who took home the glory but the Irish duo collected a cheque worth £1,910 for their respective efforts in a hugely encouraging performance for the season ahead.
Further down the leaderboard, West Cliff’s Brendan McCarroll broke 70 for the first time all week as he closed with a 69 to finish in a share of 28th spot on minus six.
With most of the field breaking par today, Waterford Castle’s Kevin Phelan will be feeling very sore after his one over-par-73 dropped him into a tie for 35th after a promising two day’s play.
While Ballymena’s Dermot McElroy returned a hugely disappointing 76 to end his bid in 65thspot on plus two for the tournament.
It was all about the winner, Billy Spooner, however as he took home the trophy and a cool cheque worth £10,000.00.
Speaking afterwards he said: “It feels brilliant, it is nice to get the job done. I played the practice round really well but didn’t want to get too carried away. Thankfully it all came together when it mattered.”
Highlights of the Matchroom Sport Championship will air on Sky Sports Golf on Tuesday 12th June and the next HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour event is the PDC Golf Championship at Studley Wood Golf Club in Oxfordshire from 6-8 Jun
