Rice & Kilpatrick lead after day one in Tulfarris

Richard Kilpatrick (Banbridge GC) and Tim Rice (Limerick GC) are locked together at the top of the leaderboard after the opening round of the PGA Challenge at Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort.

 
The duo carded rounds of five under par 67 at the Blessington, Co, Wicklow venue to lead by three shots with 18 holes remaining.
Kilpatrick went to the turn in four under par 32 courtesy of an eagle at the par five first and further birdies at the third and fifth.
The 36-year-old dropped a shot at the 10th, eagled the par five 13th, dropped his second shot of the day at the 15th but finished with a birdie at the last to come home in one under par 35.
Rice, the reigning Irish PGA Champion, also recorded a pair of eagles at the first and 13th. He collected further birdies at the third, fifth and 12th. He also recorded bogeys at the seventh and 16th.
David Ryan (Cahir Park) is alone in third on two under par with Steven Quinlan (Halpenny Golf) a shot further back on one under par.
