Ladies set for AIG Cups and Shields District Finals

Bernie McGuire

It’s the last stop on the road to Malone this weekend as ladies from across the country prepare to battle it out for a place at the National Finals.

This weekend, months of hard graft and grinding across the fairways of Ireland will culminate for some as the AIG Ladies Cups and Shields District Finals commence. Cahir Park, Tramore, Ballinrobe, Bangor and Charlesland will host teams bidding to win a District Pennant and in the process, book their place in the National Finals.

The coveted AIG Ladies Cups and Shields comprise of six categories; the Junior Cup, Minor Cup, Intermediate Cup, Challenge Cup, which are all singles Matchplay competitions, and two team events, the Senior Foursomes and Junior Foursomes.

There will be a range of handicaps and abilities on show but with the carrot of a trip to Malone Golf Club for the National Finals dangling for the winner, you can be guaranteed the kind of intense competition that would rival that of any other golfing event on the island. From us here at IGM, best of luck to all involved, enjoy the occasion and treasure the memories.
