Walker Cup hopeful Stuart Grehan from Tullamore hit the perfect bounce back from his South of Ireland disappointment at Lahinch last week to claim an impressive wire to wire win in the Sherry Fitzgerald Davitt & Davitt sponsored Mullingar Scratch Trophy

Grehan had started the day with a huge, seven-stroke lead on 10-under par after carding two 67s ahead of fellow Walker Cup panellist Robin Dawson and former Mullingar Scratch trophy winner Geoff Lenehan.
A 68 and a 71 today was enough to see the Tullamore man claim the title by four on a -15 total to hold off Dawson who kept the pressure on with a final round 66 to finish in second with an -11 total.

The win in Mullingar is great preparation for Grehan as he prepares to travel to Riviera Country Club in California next week for the 2017 US Amateur.
