After finding themselves within touch of the first round leaders, the teams of Leona Maguire and Lindy Duncan, and Lauren Walsh and Celine Herbin lost ground as the Dow Championship turned to fourball format.

Walsh and Herbin combined to card four birdies in a three-under 67, while Maguire and Duncan could only manage a one-under 69 having begun the day tied for fourth place at -2 after a strong opening foursomes session.

However, with the cutline falling at -2, they’re safely through to the final two rounds.

Celine Borge and Polly Mack were one of two teams to shoot a round of 60 and it catapulted the Norwegian/German duo to the top of the leaderboard at 12-under.

The other team to flirt with 59 was Nelly Korda and Olivia Cowan, and their 60 lifted them into solo third at -10, with the Japanese pairing of Ayaka Furue and Yuna Nishimura one ahead of the world number one and one behind the leaders.

The format returns to foursomes on Saturday, before reverting back to fourball again for Sunday’s final round.
