Matthew McClean closed with a round of 69 to salvage a share of tenth place at the Brabazon Trophy at Moortown Golf Club.
McClean’s five-under total was a distant eleven shots adrift of England’s Tom Osborne whose final round of 71 was enough to hold off compatriot Eliot Baker by two shots on 16-under.
McClean was stuck in neutral on the final day after mixing three birdies and as many bogeys across his opening thirteen holes but the Malone man finished with a flourish as he rolled in back to back birdies on the 15th and 16th to end his week on a high.
Fota Island teenager John Doyle finished two shots further back in 22nd place after a closing 75 where after a bright start, things unravelled.
A final round of 70 for County Louth’s Gavin Tiernan was enough to scrape into the top-25 on two-under while Paul Coughlan was inside the top-50 on three-over after a 69.
Isaac Oliver and Mark Cadden were five-over and six-over respectively.
