A drama-filled final round of the Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana saw English brother-duo, Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick win by one stroke at 31-under. This win sees younger brother, Alex onto the PGA TOUR through 2028.

Holding a four stroke lead heading into Sunday’s alternate shot round, the Fitzpatrick’s stumbled on the back nine, making a double at 12 and a bogey at 14 to be tied with USA’s Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer heading into the final few holes.

A bogey at the 17th for the American’s meant that the Fitzpatrick’s needed to birdie the last. Older brother Matt, the third-ranked player in the world, stuck a bunker shot on the par-5 18th a foot from the hole.

Knowing the putt would completely alter the DP World Tour regular’s career, Alex embraced his brother after tapping it in.

This win grants Alex full PGA TOUR status for two years, and entry into key tournaments. It marks his first PGA Tour win, securing exemptions into remaining 2026 Signature Events, the PGA Championship, and the 2027 Players Championship.

“I said just give us a chance on the last, and obviously to hit a shot like that, it’s nice to give him the easy tap-in there,” said Matt.

“It’s amazing to be to be with him, my mom and dad. Just, yeah, a lot of hard work. I can’t believe we’ve done it,” added Alex.

This win secures Matt’s second win in two weeks, as the 31-year-old won the RBC Heritage last week.

Norwegian duo Kristoffer Reitan and Kris Ventura, who made eagle at the last to get to 30-under, watched on from the clubhouse alongside Smalley and Springer as their bids for a first win on the PGA TOUR were ended.

“It was fun, for sure. I think we both played solid and gave ourselves a chance. I mean, obviously hitting the shot on 18 really close out of the bunker was great to kind of finish and beat us by one, but yeah, it was fun,” said Springer.

Showing some grace in their disappointment, Ventura said; “Really happy for both of them. Obviously for their parents, it must have been awesome to watch their boys win a PGA TOUR tournament together. I don’t think that happens very often.”

“You know, we gave it our best. It wasn’t enough, but really happy for them,” he added.

Waterford’s Séamus Power and Germany’s Matti Schmid pieced together a very strong five-under-par 67 to finish T10 on 26-under.

The duo showed their class, making some great shots around TPC Louisiana – most notably at the par-5 seventh, where they made eagle.

Power now sits 100th in the projected FedEx Cup standings, a strong start to the season for the 39-year-old, who is looking to bounce back from a lackluster 2025.

Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and Jacob Skov Olesen finished in T4 at 28-under, alongside USA’s Ben Martin and Trace Crowe.
