Robert Moran went into the final round of the Alps Tour’s Allegria Open with outside hopes of a first victory on the circuit and the opportunity to tighten his grip on second place in the Order of Merit, but a disappointing back nine saw him tumble down the leaderboard in Cairo.
Rounds of 68 and 69 left him on -7 after 36 holes and trailing the leader by four, but despite an opening birdie, he slumped to a closing 77 to fall back to -2 and end the week tied for 29th.
Hugh Foley, courtesy of a final-round 71 overtook his fellow countryman and finished tied for 25th at -3. It was the Royal Dublin man’s highest finish of the 2026 campaign, and he, Moran, and Sam Murphy now head to Italy for next week’s Miglianico Alps Open.
At the top of the leaderboard, Frenchman Paul Franquet enjoyed a two-stroke advantage going into the final round, but three early bogeys saw him turn from chased to chaser.
He stood on the 17th tee with a share of the lead, then finished birdie-eagle to secure a three-stroke win and move up to seventh in the Order of Merit.
Moran holds onto the number two ranking, with Sam Murphy, who missed the cut, falling to ninth.
