Robert Moran recorded his third runner-up finish in four 2026 Alps Tour starts as the tour returned following a six-week break with the Villa Paradiso Alps Open in Italy.

Rounds of 71 and 68 had the Castle man in good position going into the final round, albeit with a five-stroke deficit to leader Alexandre Vandermoten from France.

Three birdies and a bogey on the way out saw Moran move a shot closer to Vandermoten, but the lead was too much to reel in. A birdie-birdie finish for Moran was enough to see him move into a tie of second at the end of the week, three shots behind the Frenchman, and he climbed into second on the Alps Tour Order of Merit after posting his third runner-up in four Alps Tour events in 2026.

Vandermoten climbs to fourth in the rankings, and he felt that his success this week was built on a strong all-round performance, particularly on the greens.

“My putting was very good all week, and my overall game was really solid,” he said. “I had already put myself in contention in Egypt, so this is a continuation of that. The more often you get into position, the better your chances of winning. I also had a great week with my friends Aymeric Laussot and Tom Gueant, we shared some great moments, and that always helps. I really enjoyed the course as well.

“Before the tournament, I had a long call with Raphaël Jacquelin, which helped me regain a fighting mindset and just let my natural game flow. Now the goal is clearly to reach the top 5. I stay humble, but I’ve won one, why not win two more this season?”
