Paul Eivers is best of the Irish at the halfway stage of the PGA Professional Championships at Ingrebourne Links.
The Cahir Park man rocketed up thirty four places on the leaderboard to make the cut at his ease.
Eivers carded a five-under-par 67 to lie in a share of 16th place on one-under-par but he will need to keep up that standard over the next two days as he trails leader Andrew Willey by eight shots.
They say all good rounds begin with a bogey and Eivers did just that as he followed up an opening dropped shot with five successive birdies from the fifth hole to turn in 33.
A run of eight successive pars on the back nine was arrested by a closing birdie as he made the cut by five shots.
Four Irish made it through to the weekend including Joe Dillon who followed up an opening 69 with a second round of 75 to sit just outside the top-20 on level-par.
Balcarrick’s Iarlaith Keane is back in the pack on one-over-par after a round of 73 as is Colm Moriarty after a round of 72.
Tullamore’s Brian McCormack did enough to squeeze into the final two rounds on two-over despite a second round of 77.
Tim Rice, David Higgins and Keith Shannon missed the cut by the minimum on four-over-par while Michael McGeady was two shots further back.
