Graeme McDowell pocketed $1,875,000 for his joint-runner-up finish at LIV Virginia, taking home over half-a-million more than he earned for winning the US Open at Pebble Beach back in 2010.

The Portrush man had a 20-foot putt on the 18th to move level with Joaquin Niemann but watched it drift left, but he still secured his highest ever finish since moving to LIV, taking his total LIV individual earnings over the $12 million mark, and went a long way to securing his playing privileges for 2026.

He added another $50,000 to the week’s wages by helping Smash GC to a third-place finish in the team rankings, where each player gets a 10 percent share of the $500,000 loot and the remaining 60 percent goes into the team kitty.

For Niemann, it was his fourth win of 2025, and the $4,000,000 first prize takes his season’s earnings north of $16 million and to $53,594,713 for his LIV career.

On the PGA Tour, Ryan Fox outduelled Sam Burns in a playoff at the RBC Canadian Open to secure his second PGA Tour win in as many months and the first prize cheque of over $1.7 million.

Shane Lowry contended before two late bogeys saw him slip down the field and he had to settle for a share of 13th and $180,000 and change. It takes his total 2025 PGA Tour earnings over the $6,000,000 mark.

Rory McIlroy’s missed cut means he goes home empty handed for the first time since Royal Troon and the 152nd Open Championship last year.

On the PGA Tour Champions, Darren Clarke and Thomas Bjørn reprised a successful Ryder Cup partnership to storm to victory at the American Family Insurance Championship at TPC Wisconsin.

Each collected $300,000 for their efforts.
