Liam Grehan will hopefully bring the sun back to Ireland with him after he rounded off the first part of his Sunshine Tour campaign with a top-10 finish at the Mopani Zambia Open.
Grehan had recovered from an opening round 75 with a second round of 66 and after a moving day 75 he repeated the feat with another splendid 66 to soar up the leaderboard and into a share of 9th place on six-under-par.
The K Club man made a quick start to his final round, rolling in three birdies in four holes on the 2nd, 4th and 5th holes.
Grehan kept things going on his way to the clubhouse with a blistering start to his back nine as he carded four successive birdies.
The Mullingar man recovered from a bogey on the 14th immediately with a birdie two on the par-3 15th and although he closed with a dropped shot he managed to hold on to his top-10 spot – his first of the season.
At the top, South Africa’s Samuel Simpson won by a shot on eleven-under-par after carding a final round of 69.
