John Ross Galbraith missed out on a maiden professional win by the minimum at the Stromberg Masters at Belton Woods.
Galbraith carded a final round of 68 for an eleven-under total but it wasn’t enough for the victory as England’s Harry Ellis pipped him on the back nine with a 66 on twelve-under.
Galbraith started birdie, bogey but steadied the ship with a two at the par-3 5th before a run of pars was broken by back to back birdies on the 12th and 13th holes as he chased the victory.
The Whitehead Golf Club man couldn’t find the extra birdies he needed coming down the stretch and closed with five straight pars.
Mallow’s James Sugrue closed with a final round of 69 for an 18th place finish on four-under while Niall Kearney was two shots further back after closing with a 70.
Marc Boucher was 42nd while Noel Murray was 50th.
