Liam Nolan and Daniel Mulligan are both eight shots off the lead and just outside the top-10 heading into the weekend at the Danish Challenge.

Both players are five-under-par and looking to chase down Calum Fyfe at Bogense Golf Club.

Nolan carded a two-under 70 while 20-year-old Mulligan rolled in four birdies in five holes on his back nine for a 69.

Fyfe fired an impressive eight under par 64 on day one and went on to sign for a five under par second round of 67, which included six birdies, to get to 13 under par for the tournament.

Fyfe sits one clear of Sweden’s Per Längfors after he posted a six under par 66 to move into contention after 36 holes.

After playing the front nine in one under par, the 27-year-old made gains on the tenth and 13th before picking up two more birdies on the par five 14th and par five 16th. Having opted to lay-up on both longer holes, Fyfe relied on his strong wedge game to get up and down.

“I am good with my wedges, so it was about getting myself in the right positions and try and get some spin on the ball to stop it,” he said.

“I am really pleased. I’m glad about how things have been going and hopefully that can continue.

“I am playing well and then whenever I am hitting the ball in the rough there’s not as much pressure because I feel I can lay-up and make birdie.”

Unfortunately there were some Irish casualties as Max Kennedy missed the cut by a shot on one-over despite an improved 71 while Mark Power, Alex Maguire and Dermot McElroy might all lament getting the wrong side of the draw as their weeks came to a premature end.
