If Rory McIlroy believes in omens, then he’ll be happy with the early signs at Quail Hollow where the cream of golfing world are assembling for the US PGA Championship.
Just over a month ago, early thunderstorms forced Augusta National to close the gates to patrons who had tickets for Monday’s practice round and the PGA of America have just been forced to do the same at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This, of course, is bad news for spectators who had been hoping to catch the likes of McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and defending champion Xander Schauffele getting an early feel for the golf course which has been prepared for the season’s second major championship by PGA officials.

It’s not all bad news for the players, however, as both the golf course and the practice facilities at Quail Hollow remain open to them in between the inclement weather.
Further thunderstorms are expected on Monday afternoon, with Tuesday and Wednesday also likely to see scattered storms, but early forecasts suggest that we could be in for an uninterrupted day’s play on Thursday with reduced chances of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday.
That’s is weather forecasting apps are to be believed, of course…
