The future has never looked brighter for Irish women’s golf, and last night’s Par 3 Contest at Augusta National suggested that there may be stars in waiting in the Lowry and McIlroy households.
Playing together Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy, well aware of the fact that no player has ever won the par-3 contest and gone on to be fitted for a Green Jacket that year, had no intentions of posting a winning score and made sure of it when they allowed their daughters to take putts, thus ensuring disqualification.
First up on the 8th, Ivy Lowry took her dad’s putter and took aim at an uphill right-to-lefter.

It might’ve been even better from her father’s perspective though.

Not to be outdone, a painfully shy Poppy McIlroy did even better on the ninth, sinking a rapid-fast 40-footer, much to the Lowrys’ delight.

What their fathers wouldn’t give for those kind of putting stats this week.
