It was all going well until it wasn’t for Leona Maguire who carded a triple bogey and double bogey in consecutive holes at the Blue Bay LPGA in China.
Maguire looked to be on the fringes of contention after she carded eight pars and a birdie on the 6th during her opening nine of 35 but disaster struck just as she made the turn for home and sent her tumbling down the leaderboard.
The Cavan woman triple bogeyed the par-4 10th before adding insult to injury with a double bogey at the par-3 11th to move from level par to five-over in the blink of an eye.
Maguire did stop the rot with a birdie on the par-3 16th but it was a painful back nine of 40 and a round of 75 that might have been so much better.
At four-over, she is eleven shots off the halfway pace set by Nasa Hataoka and Cassie Porter.
