After plenty of waiting, the end is near. “Happy Gilmore 2” finally has an official release date.

Golf fans who have waited months to hear when the anticipated sequel will be available now have a date to look forward to: Friday, July 25, on Netflix.

There were plenty of rumors about when Netflix would release the movie. John Daly stirred those waters when he suggested that the film would be released around the Masters in April. Adam Sandler, the star who plays Gilmore, suggested that Summer 2025 was more realistic, perhaps around the 4th of July.

Well, it’ll show up on Netflix slightly later than that, arriving just after the Open Championship. And it will feature plenty of golf’s biggest names.

As we have seen in various promotional materials, Happy Gilmore 2 is set to include numerous Tour stars, from Rory McIlroy to Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau. The movie was filmed throughout 2024 with numerous golf course scenes shot in the fall at Fiddler’s Elbow, a golf club in New Jersey.

The movie is being produced by a studio owned by Pro Shop, a media company the PGA Tour has invested in, and the same company co-founded by Chad Mumm, executive producer of Netflix’s other golf property, Full Swing.

To no surprise, the beginning of Full Swing Season 3, featured behind-the-scenes coverage of a filming day. Snippets of the following golfers were included: Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Keegan Bradley, Bubba Watson, Will Zalatoris and Tony Finau.

Does that mean they’ll all make the final cut? No. But many of them are bound to be included in some way, which, for Justin Thomas at least, was not work in the slightest.

“I mean, that movie, that generation of movies is literally what we grew up on, and I realized how many Adam Sandler quotes I use in my daily life when I’m around him because I obviously felt uncomfortable saying them around him, and that’s when I realized that he’s a part of my childhood and growing up more than I realized. It was a very cool experience.”
