Hugh Foley’s impressive start to professional golf looks set to continue after a sensational front nine helped him to within one of the lead heading into the final round of the New Giza Open on the Alps Tour.

The Royal Dublin golfer roared out of the traps in scintillating fashion with two birdies and an eagle in his first three holes to share the lead and added birdies on the sixth and eight to cap off a blistering opening.

Back to back bogeys on the 9th and 10th stalled him briefly but he finished strong to keep his hopes of a maiden pro win alive with a closing birdie and a round of 67.

Foley lies in a share of fourth place on eleven-under-par and he will be looking to upset the leading trio of Gato Bertinotti, Quentin Debove and Javier Barcos.

John Murphy is five shots back on seven-under after a round of 71 while Robert Moran is two shots further back after an improved 68 which puts him alongside Ronan Mullarney.
