Jack Madden shared seventh place at the opening event of the Spanish swing on the Ecco Tour in a field that included some DP World Tour winners.
Madden carded rounds of 68, 67 and 67 at the Infinitum Spanish Masters for a nine-under total, four shots outside of a playoff which was won by Denmark’s Oliver Hundebøll Jørgensen as he beat Edoardo Molinari in a playoff.
25-year-old Madden got off to a hot start in his final round with an eagle on the par-5 2nd and a birdie on the third before a birdie on the par-3 7th saw him turn in 31.
The birdies slowed up somewhat on the back nine with seven pars and a bogey on the 11th but he did finish his week on a high note with a closing birdie to finish one shot behind Pep Angles and two ahead of Soren Kjeldsen.
The Dungannon native won twice on the Clutch Pro Tour last season and won the second tier Order of Merit to earn five Challenge Tour starts for this term as he looks to progress up the ranks and make it to the DP World Tour in the coming years.
