The KPMG Women’s Irish Open has been handed a boost by the news that reigning champion Annabel Dimmock will be back to defend her crown and she’ll be joined by world amateur number one, Lottie Woad.
Dimmock, born in London but whose mother Louise hails from Youghal, County Cork, defeated Frenchwoman Pauline Roussin-Bouchard in a playoff on the O’Meara Course at Carton House in 2024, and was thrilled with the support that she’d received from the home crowd who quickly adopted her as one of their own.
“This is brilliant to do it in Ireland,” she said. “This feels really good. I am not going to lie. The fans out there, the people watching, have been amazing to me this week, and it was what I needed.”
Woad, who is currently studying at Florida State University, had the kind of year that dreams are made of in 2024, winning the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in early April and ascended to the top of the amateur rankings in June.
She competed in her first AIG Women’s Open at St. Andrews in August, finishing tied for 10th and capturing the Smyth Salver award as leading amateur, and then a week later, joined Sara Byrne, Aine Donegan and Beth Coulter among others at Sunningdale as Great Britain and Ireland recorded a first Curtis Cup success since 2016.

The KPMG Women’s Irish Open runs from June 30th to July 6th on the O’Meara Course at Carton House, with tournament play taking place on the final four days. Tickets are available here, and once again, free parking is available on site.
