Leona Maguire made a move up the leaderboard at the Honda LPGA Thailand with a second round of 68.

Maguire moved up 20 positions into a share of 38th place on two-under-par but she is still a distant thirteen shots behind leader Akie Iwai who remains at the summit.

The Cavan star began on the back nine and made a quick start with birdies on the 10th and 13th before clicking into gear again with a brace of birdies on the first and second holes.

Her only bogey of the day came on the par-4 3rd but she finished well with a birdie on the par-3 8th for a four-under round.

Japanase star Iwai carded a blistering 62 in round one to take the lead and a second round of 67 maintained her position at the top and she holds a two shot advantage over Angel Yin at fifteen-under-par.

Iwai has yet to drop a shot after her opening 36 holes and carded birdies on the 1st, 4th, 7th, 13th and 15th.

“Today also I did shot well, putt well. Good distance together. Yeah. So that’s why I made a lot of birdie also today,” said Iwai.

Iwai, who has her sister competing in the field this week isn’t getting bogged down in outcomes for the weekend as she chases her maiden LPGA Tour victory.

“I don’t care result, and then I just stick with my game plan, yes. Just keep going, so stay focused, focus my golf, yeah, until finish the holes.”
