There’s a different feel about this week with some of Ireland’s big hitters taking a week off from action while some of our up and coming players make their season debuts as Leona Maguire returns to action.

PGA Tour

Pádraig Harrington makes his first PGA Tour appearance of the 2025 season at the Mexico Open at Vidanta World as he returns to action following a week off after four successive weeks on the DP World Tour and Champions Tour.

The 53-year-old hasn’t played a regular PGA Tour event since the Valero Texas Open last April and will be looking to make his first cut on the top US circuit since finishing in a share of 52nd place at this very event last season.

DP World Tour

Conor Purcell returns to action at the Magical Kenya Open after making his first cut of the season in Qatar.

The Portmarnock man has made one previous appearance in this event, missing the cut at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi.

Making the step up from the HotelPlanner Tour to the DP World Tour this week is Dermot McElroy after a couple of solid if unspectacular weeks in South Africa.

The Ballymena man missed out on a DP World Tour card at the Road to Mallorca Grand Final last year and at Q-School and this is a rare opportunity to impress at a higher level.

LPGA Tour

Leona Maguire hopes to continue her encouraging start to the LPGA Tour season at the Honda LPGA Thailand.

After beginning her season with a top-10 and top-20 finish in as many starts, the Cavan star took a week off, skipping the LET event in Saudi Arabia in order to be fresh for the Asian swing on the LPGA Tour.

Alps Tour

The Alps Tour, which has now become Europe’s third tier kicks off the 2025 season this week at the Ein Bay Open in Egypt.

This tournament tees off on Wednesday with 2023 Alps Tour Order of Merit winner Ronan Mullarney headlining the field.

Four Irish players are in the field as Royal Dublin’s Hugh Foley makes his season debut as a professional and he is joined by his former Irish amateur teammates Robert Moran and Marc Boucher.

John Murphy will be hoping he can kickstart an upward turn in his career as he begins a full season on the Alps Tour.
