Lauren Walsh says winning a KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Carton House would be the stuff of dreams.

Walsh, who recently signed a brand ambassador deal with Carton House is a Kildare native and she will be making her debut in the event in August.

“I am really excited about competing on home turf. I’m so excited to compete in front of home crowds,” said the Castlewarden woman.

“It’s incredible how Irish get behind their athletes so I am really excited for some big crowds and a great golf course with great support.”

Walsh has been in good form on her maiden Ladies European Tour campaign and she won’t be there to make up the numbers as she looks to earn a dream home win.

“That would be the stuff of dreams, a couple of tournaments between now and then so maybe I can get it across the line before now and then but a win on home turf would be the stuff of dreams and would be very special.”

That maiden Ladies European Tour win might arrive this weekend after Walsh opened her Jabra Ladies Open with a two-under 69.

Walsh is just three shots off the lead and shares ninth place with Frenchwoman Agathe Sauzon and Ines Lakalech sharing the lead on five-under.

Walsh secured her first top-10 finish last week in Germany and narrowly missed out on a place in the US Women’s Open in final qualifying on Monday.

Meanwhile, Olivia Mehaffey is on six-over after a 77.
