Stephanie Meadow sits tied for 30th after two rounds at the Chevron Championship, but despite being the sole Irish representative to make the cut, she’s seeking improvement with the big stick ahead of the weekend’s action.

“It was a ‘so-so’ day,” she said after shooting a level-par 72 in round two, “I didn’t hit my driver that well today so I’m honestly pretty happy with the score and how I managed to scrounge out a score without my ‘A’ game and still be into the weekend and somewhere around the top.”

She’s just seven shots off the lead which is co-held by Atthaya Thitikul and Jin Hee Im, though world number one Nelly Korda is lurking ominously a shot back, but she thinks a weekend charge is more than possible if she manages to get the driver back on track.

“For sure,” she responded when asked the question. “I’m still hitting my irons really well so I’m going to go and try to figure out what’s going on with the driver right now, talk to my coach and try to go for it this weekend.”

Meadow begins the third round in the company of American Kristen Gillman and England’s Georgia Hall and they get underway at 15:18 Irish time.
