Former LIV Golf professional Justin Harding is unhappy with the DP World Tour after learning they would limit his appearances this season.

Harding who was part of Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers before being kicked off LIV Golf in 2022 for not having a contract, has had his DP World Tour status limited to just fifteen events which makes it harder for him to earn enough points for a full card.

The 37-year-old South African is a two-time winner on the DP World Tour and he also confirmed that without requesting a release, he will not be granted permission to compete on the Asian Tour next year.

Posting on X: Harding said: “So, the new season kicked off today and just to give you an update on how things are progressing.

“Albeit I’ve only played five DP World Tour events spanning what will now be three seasons and 15 months, the Tour seems determined to give me just 15 events to keep my card this upcoming season.

“Frustratingly that decision affects my return to competitive golf (I’m not at present allowed to play Asian Tour without permission and or further events being deducted from the 15) and, as such, will likely only be able to return to competition in February with some Challenge Tour events.

“Best of luck to all my friends and fellow golfers who are playing the next few weeks in my home country.”

Nine-time DP World Tour winner Pablo Larrazabal reached out in support of Harding, replying: “As talented as you are, go get a win in your first few events you play and come back to the place you deserve.”

Having been axed by LIV Golf in 2022, Harding returned to the DP World Tour but was soon sidelined with a hip injury and has also been out of action for eight months.

The decision comes as the DP World Tour accepted former LIV player Bernd Wiesberger’s application for membership this season which began at the Joburg Open on Thursday.

The Austrian has been given category 11 membership for the season.
