Seamus Power has withdrawn from this week’s Horizon Irish Open at the K Club with a hip injury.

Power has been struggling with the injury since the Genesis Scottish Open – which he pulled out of after nine holes – and it plagued his Ryder Cup hopes in the latter half of the summer.

The two-time PGA TOUR winner played the Open Championship in Royal Liverpool after extensive physio work but missed the cut.

The West Waterford man wasn’t one of Luke Donald’s six wildcard picks for Europe to face the USA in Rome at the end of the month after a disappointing 2023 which saw him fail to register a top-10 finish and miss out on the Tour Championship in the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Power made his Irish Open debut in Mount Juliet last year and is the touring professional of the K Club, this week’s host venue.
