Castlewarden’s Lauren Walsh finds herself just three shots off the lead heading into the final round after a brilliant three-under par 69 on day two of the Trust Golf Links Series at Ramside Hall.
Walsh came within a whisker of a maiden professional title at the same venue last week and after settling for a second place finish, she now has Katharina Muehlbauer in her sights after moving into the red after an even par opener.
Walsh, who sits in a tie for fourth with a round to play, only turned professional last month and while she missed the cut in an encouraging LPGA Tour debut at the Dana Open, she has so far excelled back in Europe on the LET Access Series.
That’s not to say she’ll be on this side of the world for the long haul but after gaining invaluable experience in paid company, the fledgling pro intends to fly back to America late next month as Walsh chases her LPGA Tour dream.
“The goal before coming out here was just to get some competitive rounds under my belt before Galgorm and Q-School so obviously delighted with how things worked out,” Walsh said with the ISPS Handa Invitational also firmly on her radar next month.
“The LET Access Series is obviously a pathway to the Ladies European Tour so while I’m going back to Q-School for the LPGA, it would be nice to get some bonus status on the LET as a result of playing well out here in the meantime.”
