Whitehead’s John-Ross Galbraith followed up a strong start at the recent Players Clutch Pro Tour event with another impressive opener at this week’s Farnham Event in Surrey where he’d card a three-under par first round to head the 10-strong Irish challenge.

Despite carding seven birdies in his round, a bogey, double-bogey finish took some of the gloss off Galbraith’s performance, but he still lies T23, one stroke ahead of the trio of Daniel Mulligan, Conor O’Rourke and Liam Grehan.

Mulligan covered the back-nine in three-under, while O’Rourke signed off with an eagle-three at the last to turn his fortunes around. Grehan, making his second Clutch Pro start of the year, matched Galbraith’s tally of seven birdies, but two double-bogeys would prove costly as he’d join O’Rourke and Mulligan in a tie for 35th.

Rowan Lester is next in the running at -1, one stroke ahead of Cameron Raymond with John Hickey and Eoin O’Brien one further adrift at +1.

Tom Dowdall, who struggled to an 80 completes the Irish lineup, with Jason Murphy a withdrawal.

English duo Nick Marsh and Piers Berrington lead the way after matching rounds of 64, and they enjoy a two-stroke lead over Jacob Oakley and Brandon Robinson Thompson, with a further group of nine tied for fifth at -5.
