Golfers pursuing a place in the AIG Women’s Open at Walton Heath can now submit entries for Pre-Qualifying and Final Qualifying events taking place in July and August this year.

Players who already have an exemption into the AIG Women’s Open can submit an entry form via aigwomensopen.com.

Pre-Qualifying will take place on Monday 17 July at The Buckinghamshire with Final Qualifying being played at Hankley Common on Monday 7 August.

A minimum of three golfers will earn their place in the AIG Women’s Open to be played at Walton Heath from 10-13 August.

Those golfers wanting to play in Pre-Qualifying and Final Qualifying can view the entry criteria and submit an entry form via aigwomensopen.com.

Zoe Ridgway, Tournament Director – AIG Women’s Open at The R&A, said, “We would like to thank The Buckinghamshire and Hankley Common for hosting Pre-Qualifying and Final Qualifying.

“These two events are an integral pathway into the AIG Women’s Open, a major championship which golfers all over the world dream of competing in. We wish all the players the best of luck and look forward to welcoming the successful golfers to the AIG Women’s Open when it is hosted at Walton Heath in August.”

First established in 1976 and now owned by The R&A, the AIG Women’s Open is one of five major championships in women’s golf.

Each year 144 players compete for the championship trophy with the low amateur, who plays 72 holes, awarded the Smyth Salver.

Last year, Cavan star Leona Maguire spearheaded the Irish challenge; a brilliant bogey-free 66 launching Leona to a best ever T4 result in the Championship.

In 2021, Castlewarden’s Wake Forest amateur Lauren Walsh showed what’s possible, taking her chance on a Major stage at Carnoustie where Walsh played all four rounds before completing a T42 finish on the week.
