Clandeboye’s Jessica Ross is just one shot off the lead heading into the final round of the Welsh Women’s Open Strokeplay in Prestatyn Golf Club.

Ross backed up her opening round of 71 with a second round of 70 to move to seven-under for the Championship and she trails Scotland’s Jennifer Saxton by the minimum after the leader shot a stunning seven-under 67.

Ross put on a clinic on the back nine as she came home in just 32 strokes. Birdies on 11 and 12 were followed by a closing brace of birdies as she moved into a share of second place with Irish Women’s Champion Lorna McClymont.

Rossmore’s Kate Dwyer made a big move on Saturday, climbing twelve places into 16th on level-par following a three-under 71.

The Irish Intervarsities champion finished with a flourish birdieing four of her last five holes including a hat trick to finish.

Woburn’s Roisin Scanlon is in 23rd place on four-over after a 75.
