Maguire fourth while Hearn advances to match play stages

Alex Maguire posted his best finish of the collegiate season as he shared fourth place at the C-USA Men’s Golf Championship in Texarkana Country Club.

Maguire shot rounds of 73, 73 and 72 for a two-over total and he was just four shots shy of winner James Swash of Louisiana Tech.

The Florida Atlantic golfer recovered from three opening bogeys in a row with three birdies in five holes to close out his front nine.


The Laytown&Bettystown man dropped a shot on 13 but recovered with a late birdie on 17 to get back to level par for the day.

Meanwhile in the Sunbelt Conference, Jack Hearn produced a strong finish as South Alabama progressed to the match play stages of the competition.

Hearn carded a three-under 69 to climb into the top-10 on level-par as his South Alabama team claimed second place in the team leaderboard and book their place in the match play semi finals.

Jack Madden finished in a share of 33rd place.
